Saturated Hues

The easiest way to bridge the seasons is with color—deep, saturated hues that bring a new richness to your summer staples. Slip on a fuchisa silk skirt in place of airy linen, or sling a jewel-toned bag over your favorite white sundress for an instant fall update. Add candy-colored cashmere to crisp evenings, and trade bright white sandals for ruby red pumps or olive heels. These bold tones breathe fresh life into warm-weather pieces while feeling perfectly at home in autumn’s richer palette.

  • Late summer always has me pining for more bohemian silhouettes, and Ulla Johnson's fall collection is full of saturated favorites. I'm eyeing this silk bias-cut dress, this dramatic silk maxi skirt and these amazing silk trousers. (Also drooling over this, this and this!)
  • Green is one of my favorite colors to wear year-round, and I'm especially into grassy greens and olive hues right now. From yummy cashmere twinsets (cardigan here, shell here) to bold wrap skirts, this grassy hue has evergreen appeal. Olive touches, whether in a belt, poplin midi skirt, or swoon-worthy bag can help transition your favorite summer whites into fall.
  • Jewel tones are showing up on actual jewels as well, from peridot cocktail rings (obsessed - I'd wear it on my pointer finger!) to green tourmaline bracelets juicy colors are popping up everywhere. I especially love the look layered with chunky gold pieces, like this link bracelet or this beautiful gold chain bracelet.
  • Burgundy has the unique ability to look good on practically everyone, and this eyelet number is the perfect marriage of a summer fabric with an autumnal hue. Similarly, this silk halter dress looks much more expensive than it's $150 price tag, and is a knockout with gold heels (on sale for $300!) for evening events or dinner dates. (I'm planning to style mine with a long pendant necklace, and...wouldn't it look amazing with this clutch!?)
  • Speaking of, I love the idea of a burgundy cashmere v-neck and fuchsia together. The burgundy by your face for it's flattering effect, and the fuchsia because it's just too fun!
  • Add a golden glow to your typical blue jeans and button up with this smart golden lady jacket, which is office appropriate but has just enough fringe to be fun while off duty.
  • Saturated shoes are an easy way to apply this to your existing wardrobe, whether it's a pair of olive suede heels, these ruby pumps (they look fab with navy at the office or with jeans), or these investment pointy toe flats that I own and love.
  • Jewel toned sweaters work with white jeans now, and a wool mini skirt or trousers later. A few favorites include this cherry red cardigan, this berry brushed cashmere sweater (on sale!), this fuchsia twinset (also on sale!) and this olive henley that I just snagged to wear with jeans while chasing my toddler!
