Everything I Packed for a Nantucket Getaway

We're on the ferry to Nantucket as I write this! We packed up for a long weekend trip to Nantucket's annual Daffodil Festival, and the forecast called for 70 degree weather at the beginning of our trip, and pretty heavy rain by the end of it. With that in mind, I packed a few warm weather looks, along with sweaters, pants and shoes for wet days. There's an unofficial dress code for Daffy weekend and many attendees wear yellow to celebrate the arrival of spring's happiest flower. It was fun packing a few yellow pieces, and in addition to that I leaned on preppy classics like cable knit sweaters, stripes, loafers and vintage inspired florals.

Here's everything I packed for a spring getaway to Nantucket!

Sweaters

  • This cable knit sweater is a classic for a reason. I own it in a rainbow of colors and brought the yellow version with me on this trip. (Size up for the perfect fit over collared shirts!)
  • Nautical stripes are a must on Nantucket and this striped cotton sweater is perfection!
  • Another one of my all time favorite sweaters, this 3-ply cashmere crewneck has the perfect swingy fit - I love flicking the cuffs up and tucking the front into high-waisted jeans or shorts. (They also have a Nantucket store!)
  • This little cable knit cardigan is beautifully cut - slightly cropped but not too cropped, with a rib trim at the hip that pulls it in for a flattering fit. It's also an interesting wool-silk-linen belnd which feels wonderful and is a lovely 4 season weight. I bought my usual size (XS).

Dresses

  • White dresses just say "spring is here" and this one is stunning - the godets on the full skirt are so beautiful and the cap sleeve is very flattering. You can dress it up with heels or down with flats.
  • I love Doen's dresses, and their empire styles are super flattering for smaller busts. I especially like this floral version which feels like vintage Ralph Lauren. Swoon!
  • I love the sweet print on this square neck sundress and it's 40% off this weekend!
  • I packed this sunny yellow caftan on the chance that we'd make it to the beach on the warmest day.

Tops

  • This striped tee is such a nice preppy staple. I sized up for the best fit.
  • I love a striped button up shirt and this one looks great under a cable knit sweater now, and tied at the waist with shorts this summer.
  • I always pack this white button up shirt for every trip, it's perfect as a layer under sweaters or on it's own tucked into high waisted jeans.

Bottoms

  • My favorite white jeans (size up) and light wash denim are relaxed favorites that are super comfortable and still look chic.
  • The eyelet detail on this skirt is so pretty and navy pairs beautifully with yellow!
  • These striped silk blend trousers are amazing. Wear them with a simple tank for an effortless coastal look!

Bags

  • My bucket bag from Hunting Season is a favorite for everyday use. It fits everything from my camera to diapers and wipes and looks chic while doing so. My exact bag appears to be sold out but this one has the same look and capacity!
  • I love that this little white clutch has a belted look inspired by the Hermes Kelly Pochette, but has its own flair.

Shoes

  • These feminine raffia mules spring-ify any outfit and are so comfortable!
  • White sandals for the days that are 70 degrees and sunny.
  • Heels are tricky on Nantucket's cobblestone streets but these espadrille wedges are just the thing for dressier looks.
  • These preppy loafers are so comfortable and elevate your favorite pair of denim.
  • These classic boat shoes are perfect for rainy days, they're designed to get wet and dry out quickly.

Outerwear

  • A classic trench coat is a must for spring travel. I love the slightly longer length on this one, and it has a removable hood perfect for unexpected showers!
