To my mind, packing for a trip is half the fun and the below list is everything I packed for 10 days in and around Italy. This is both an easy resource for you if you spot something you love on my Instagram, and a checklist for me to make sure I don’t leave anything behind! All of this fits in my personal item, one carry on and one checked bag, which is the maximum amount of luggage I ever like to travel with on a trip. I always pack my most special pieces plus the items I need to get me through the first 48-72 hours of the trip in my carry-on just in case the checked bag goes missing for a couple of days, and I highly recommend using apple air tags in your checked bag for extra peace of mind!
Find EVERYTHING I packed for 10 days in Italy below. I hope you find something you love for whatever you have planned for your summer!
Day Dresses:
- This blue and white floral dress echoes the colors of the Amalfi Coast.
- I love the ornate paisley print on this simple sundress. The dress runs a bit big so consider sizing down.
- This red floral dress is made of super soft organic cotton and has the most beautiful seams around the bust. It looks and feels more expensive than it is, and is a great day-to-night dress - just swap flats for heels!
- This red linen dress is so striking, the perfect red hue and almost maxi length make it a gorgeous choice for day or night. (Plus it's only $150 right now!)
- This linen shift is sweet and simple. I love the little stripe detail at the pocket and hem.
- This crochet tunic dress was just restocked and is an easy, elegant piece for cafe lunches and shopping.
- This knit dress looks much more expensive than it's $178 price tag. I love the slimming effect of the wavy pattern and almost maxi length hem.
- This vibrant majolica dress is always in my suitcase when I head to Italy.
Evening Dresses:
- This lavender tiered dress is unbelievable. I love the seams that wrap the bodice and flow into the most beautiful flounce-y skirt. Plus it just went on sale!
- This floaty silk long sleeve maxi dress is perfect for cooler evenings. (I always size up in this Italian brand!)
- This black empire maxi dress is an easy statement piece that flutters beautifully as you walk. Pair with a heel and slicked back hair and statement earrings.
- The ruched detail on this one shoulder dress is crazy flattering, and it looks perfect with statement flats.
- This linen silk floral gown is coming everywhere with me this summer. It works beautifully for elegant dinners or as a wedding guest dress.
- I love the bright citrus-y hue of this dress and the big bow, plus the linen fabric hits the perfect laid-back-but-elevated vibe.
- The floral on this midi dress is beautiful and I love the easy belted silhouette for dinners when you don't want to bother much, but still want to look fabulous.
Tops:
- This knit striped bandeau top gives major "holiday by the sea" vibes. (Plus, if you get a little sun - no tan lines!) Pair with white trousers or a beautiful navy skirt!
- This little linen top has already proven to be the MVP of this spring/summer. I love wearing it on its own or pairing with the coordinating linen blazer. Both pieces are 20% off with "Stacie20".
- I'm obsessed with this poppy red top. It's the perfect holiday piece to pair with white shorts for a day spent exploring. (And you can wear to the office with trousers when you're back home!)
- This classic white tank top is so worth it, a substantial knit and flattering cut have me reaching for it again and again. I also packed this nearly identical tank in navy, which is a fraction of the price.
- I always pack a cardigan for throwing over my shoulders in the evening and this one looks great buttoned up as a top too!
- This cotton navy and white striped crewneck sweater is the perfect weight and looks so chic with white shorts or denim, or thrown over your shoulders.
- I like having a couple cotton shirts to wear with shorts for hotel breakfasts and this and this are coming with me! (Both from Ann Mashburn, I'm obsessed with their shirting!)
- This open knit sweater top is cute over a swimsuit for lunch.
Bottoms:
- This gorgeous eyelet skirt just launched as a part of a special collaboration and I love it paired with a simple bandeau top or throw it on over a one piece swimsuit!
- These striped silk trousers give you legs for days and feel like you're wearing pajamas while still being chic enough to wear for aperitivo.
- These pleated white shorts are such classics and just the right length. Size down for the best fit.
- This basket weave skirt is a fabulous coverup by the pool or pair with the little shorts that come with it for a day out and about.
- I always bring this Dolce and Gabbana skirt to Italy, it was made for the Amalfi Coast!
- These white denim shorts with crochet details have a little something special. I sized up and like the slightly looser fit.
- I'm very into silk trousers right now and these marine patterned pants are just too fun!
- This skirt is one of Tuckernuck's bestsellers and I have it in two colors. I brought the navy on this trip and it has beautiful lines. Runs true to size - every woman needs one!
- I've mentioned this beautiful lace skirt before, and am so excited to throw on over a swimsuit for pool days!
- I packed these gym shorts just in case I want to sneak in a workout.
Swimsuits:
- This blue and white paisley print swimsuit is a dreamy option for days by the water. I bought the matching pareo to go with it.
- I love this "scrunchie" bandeau top and high waisted bottoms, and plan to wear them with this shell print pareo.
- This vintage inspired seersucker bikini stays put while swimming and is the perfect pairing with this blue colorblocked sarong.
- This white tank suit is a favorite and goes with everything from colorful pareos to chic caftan coverups.
- This striped tank suit is a classic wherever you are.
- This "u" bandeau swimsuit is my favorite, I brought it in three colors!
Coverups:
- This classic tunic is straight out of a Slim Aarons photograph but still feels fresh for today. The cotton is slightly sheer and has a beautiful luster. Throw on over a swimsuit or pair with slim white trousers. I sized up for a comfy fit.
- Only a few left of this gorgeous crochet coverup from a favorite Italian brand. Perfect for over white swimsuits. Size up for the best fit.
- This cream knit coverup dress is a simple and affordable poolside look!
- This white ruched number is effortless and beautiful. It is very sheer so best as a coverup but so gossamer and lovely. (On sale too!)
- A linen shirtdress is a summertime staple. Leave it unbuttoned over a swimsuit or belt it for a day at the farmer's market.
- I wore this navy linen top and bottoms set in the Bahamas and love how effortlessly chic they are together or as separates. The brand usually runs big, but I recommend taking your normal size in these pieces.
Shoes:
- These delicate flat white sandals are a vacation workhorse. Pair with a sundress by day, and they look elevated enough for dinners (especially with a maxi dress) by night.
- These laid back Grecian sandals are amazing for beach days and currently on major sale!
- These wedge espadrilles have a vintage flair that I love and are surprisingly comfortable. I sized down 1/2 size for the best fit. (Usually I'm a US 8, and got the US 7 1/2.)
- I tried several espadrille mary janes and found these were the most comfortable and flattering. They run true to size and I got them in black - which has fun gold accent stitching. Chic!
- These brown suede sandals look fabulous paired with white, and the knot detail at the toe feels a bit nautical without being overly thematic. Plus, they're super comfortable!
- These gold heels are almost always in my suitcase - chic and super comfortable due to the block heel - I love that I can walk through grass in them and won't sink in!
- These slides are super comfortable and go with almost any outfit. I packed them in two colors (white and taupe) which was a bit unnecessary but I love them and didn't realize I had packed both.
Bags:
- This little straw bag is big enough to hold my camera and seems to go with everything!
- This natural wicker clutch is just the right size to carry your evening essentials and pairs beautifully with almost anything in your suitcase.
- I love this net tote for throwing in those extras like baby essentials or a few things for the pool.
- I find I reach for this little white wicker clutch day and night. It reminds me of an old favorite from Mark Cross for a much better price, and the gold crossbody chain is really beautiful.
- This tote has been a favorite for several years. It's lightweight, resilient and looks chic as a beach bag or for a day around town.
- I have been collecting statement bags from Rocio for almost ten years, and this shell clutch is a favorite for seaside getaways!
- This little rattan top handle bag reminds me of the Miu Miu bag I bought on Capri a few years ago, but is under $150!
Jewelry:
- I love a chunky gold bracelet as the punctuation on a bare arm.
- My mom had several necklaces like this when she was my age. I wish I could find them!
- These pearl studs are an opulent take on a classic style. They add just a little oomph to any outfit.
- These delicate green drop earrings make such a beautiful statement.
- This chunky stone necklace is like a pearl choker’s cool younger sister.
- These little drop earrings are so sparkly and even though they're white sapphire and not diamonds everyone mistakes them for the real thing.
